Barrington Fair Grounds 4-10-2013
Sitting out in the fields of the fairgrounds property is this small wooden structure, often referred to as the money counting shed. With its steep pitch roofline and tiny belfry-style cupola perched on top, it looks surprisingly like a miniature one-room country schoolhouse left behind in an overgrown clearing.
I chose a high-contrast black and white conversion to bring out the rough, peeling wood grain on the weathered exterior boards and the wild brush crowding the open doorway. The wide-angle lens pulls in the open sky and distant tree line while accentuating the building’s quirky architecture, creating a sharp, timeless portrait of rural history.
