Barred Owl 11-03-2017
During our visit to the White Memorial Conservation Center in Litchfield, Connecticut, I had the chance to zoom in for an intimate portrait study of this Barred Owl. Having such a calm bird remain completely stationary allowed me to dial in the camera focus precisely on its striking, circular facial disc.
This macro-style crop fills the entire frame with soft layers of barred feathers, shifting from warm cream tones to deep charcoal banding around its crown. The owl’s dark, obsidian eyes and pale beak anchor the center of the composition, creating an engaging wildlife portrait with exceptional fine detail and texture.
