Army Men Cupcakes 4-13-2013
Photographing creative novelty treats is always a fun studio project that lets you experiment with close-up macro angles. These homemade chocolate cupcakes were decorated to resemble miniature battlefield terrain, complete with swirls of rich cocoa frosting, crushed cookie dirt, green sprinkles, and classic toy soldiers standing guard over each mound.
The low-angle camera perspective places you right at eye level with the center infantry figurine, keeping his rifle and helmet sharp against the neighboring squad members. Rich dark chocolate textures and speckled green crumbs fill the frame, creating an amusing, detailed dessert photo with great personality for any monitor display.
