Scarlet Macaw Parrot 4-28-2015

Spending time around an open tropical aviary offered an incredible chance to watch vibrant parrots forage and interact in bright sunlight. This scarlet macaw perched along a raised wooden ledge, carefully holding a fruit morsel in its claw while feeding. I framed the shot tightly with a fast telephoto lens to isolate the bird against the lush natural foliage.

The image captures the bird’s brilliant plumage, showing rich scarlet red feathers across the head blending into golden yellow wing covert bars and vivid royal blue tail feathers. A creamy white facial patch and dark hooked bill provide bold contrast against the soft, sun-dappled green background.
