Sunflowers 10-3-2026
Back in late September 2019, we stayed in downtown Lake George for the Adirondack Balloon Festival weekend. While walking through town on a crisp early fall afternoon, I spotted this patch of bright sunflowers reaching up toward the midday sun. The festival events usually keep everyone looking at the morning and evening skies, but walking the local streets between launches offered plenty of great quiet scenes right at ground level.
I crouched low to frame the open blooms directly against the clear blue sky, letting the natural backlight hit the yellow petals. Shooting at an upward angle brought out the rich contrast between the gold leaves, deep brown seed centers, and broad green foliage below. The crisp autumn air and strong sunlight gave every edge sharp definition, creating an energetic, clean perspective that captures late summer handing off to autumn. It made for a balanced desktop and mobile backdrop with plenty of natural color.
