Covered Bridge 8-10-2012
During a hike through Southford Falls State Park in Southbury, I stopped at the historic Burr Arch covered bridge nestled among the thick woods. The intricate interior timber framing looked fantastic from the approach path, and converting the capture to black and white really brought out its structural character and timeless New England woodworking. It is always rewarding when monochrome processing emphasizes authentic architectural details.
The composition looks directly through the portal of the wooden bridge, highlighting the sweeping curved timber trusses and symmetrical support beams. High-contrast monochrome tones pull out rich wood grain and rough stone foundations, framed naturally by lush forest foliage on both sides.
