Grizzly Bear 11-20-2017
Walking through the Bronx Zoo back in May 2015, the grizzly bear exhibit was one of our first stops of the morning. Watching this massive brown bear wade right into the pool to cool off and snack on fresh browse was a highlight of the visit, so I waited along the perimeter for a clear headshot across the water.
The composition captures the bear in profile from the chest up, with wet, dark brown fur dripping with water droplets. Fresh green leaves stick out from its jaw, contrasting against weathered river rocks behind and soft rippling water that fills the foreground.
