Long-exposure shot of multi-tiered cascades flowing across broad rock ledges with a historic hydro building on the bank

Great Falls 5-5-2017

I came back up to Falls Village in April 2016 right as the winter chill broke and spring run-off started charging the river. The surrounding trees were just beginning to show subtle hints of early green buds, and the steady water volume created the perfect conditions to set up long exposures across the main tiers of stone.

A longer shutter speed blurs the cascading sheets of water into smooth, milky paths across the wide limestone steps. The historic brick and stucco power building sits anchored on the left ridge, framed by soft early spring foliage and a warm, open sky above.
