Cornwall Covered Bridge 10-6-2012
West Cornwall Covered Bridge is always a reliable spot for classic New England scenery, especially once October rolls in. I walked down along the rocky banks of the Housatonic River to get low and frame the bridge spanning the water. The overcast sky diffused the midday light, keeping harsh glare off the rapids and letting the early autumn foliage hold its natural tone.
The composition features the long red wooden truss bridge stretching horizontally across concrete piers, anchored by river stones and golden brush in the foreground. Moving river currents add subtle motion to the lower half, while a wooded hillside of mixed greens, yellows, and deep autumn color frames the background. The muted, stormy sky provides clean, balanced contrast across the entire landscape.
