Colebrook River Lake 8-19-2012
By late August, the summer foliage around Colebrook River Lake had filled in with deep, solid greens. I set up dead-center along the south-facing rim of the dam to take in the full, symmetrical cut through the valley. It was a calm, quiet afternoon with just enough cloud cover to add texture to the expansive sky.
The shot centers the calm reservoir as it curves between twin forested slopes under a bright blue sky dotted with white summer clouds. Angular rocks from the dam face ground the lower frame, anchoring the composition with rugged, natural texture and excellent natural depth.
