Queen of the Night Tulips 5-1-2017
During a quiet spring walk through Coe Memorial Park in Torrington, Connecticut, I came across a landscaped bed of Queen of the Night tulips in peak bloom. Their dark, dramatic coloring always stands out against typical pastel spring flowers, so I stopped to set up a clean, low-angle shot along the path.
Framed on slender green stems, the two primary tulip cups showcase deep velvety purple and eggplant tones catching gentle morning light. A shallow depth of field melts the surrounding park beds into a clean wash of soft green and creamy white bokeh, letting the dark petals and smooth textures take center stage.
