Fern 5-13-2016
One evening just before sunset, I stepped out into the backyard with the camera to catch the last rays of light filtering through the trees. A newly sprouted fern caught the low-angle sun just right, creating an intense rim-lighting effect that immediately caught my eye along the edge of the woods behind the house.
The backlit frond glows in brilliant electric green and yellow tones against a cool, shadowed evening background. Golden sunflare bursts directly between the delicate horizontal stems, revealing fine hairy textures along the main stalk and intricate serrated leaf patterns in crisp silhouette under the warm twilight sky.
