Campbell Falls 5-30-2013
Tucked into the northern tip of Norfolk, Connecticut, the trail to Campbell Falls crosses the state line into Massachusetts before leading you straight down to the base of the gorge. Walking along the rocky stream bed late in May, the surrounding forest was full of vibrant new growth and cool mountain air.
The composition frames the waterfall centered in the background, channeled between two towering rock ledges that draw your eyes right up the gorge. Dark, wet bedrock lines both banks, capped with bright green moss and early summer foliage. A smooth water flow cuts through the rocky channel into a quiet foreground pool.
