Stockbridge Brick Church 2-24-2013
I walked out onto the snowy lawn in front of the Stockbridge Congregational Church during a quiet February road trip through western Massachusetts. The winter daylight was beginning to fade, so I used an ultra-wide angle to take in both the historic chapel and the neighboring red colonial home in a single broad frame. The dusting of snow across the turf added great texture to the open foreground.
The wide view looks up at the red brick church facade and tiered white wooden bell tower, with snow covering the entire foreground lawn. Bare hardwood branches arch across a pale winter sky, while a classic red clapboard house adds traditional Berkshire character along the right edge.
