Ground Hogs 9-12-2015
While walking past the outdoor animal enclosures during a summer trip to the Bronx Zoo in New York, a busy colony of ground hogs caught my attention. They were constantly popping up to scan their surroundings before scampering back down, giving me just a few brief seconds to lock focus whenever one stood up on high alert.
The shot centers on one plump ground hog sitting upright on its hind legs, paws curled forward and dark eyes surveying the terrain. Soft daylight illuminates its bristly brown fur, while two fellow critters stay softly blurred in the earthy, sun-dappled grassy habitat behind.
