Tropical Leaves 9-17-2015
Escaping down to the Caribbean for some warm Roatán sunshine always puts lush tropical palm trees right at the top of my shooting list. Walking through a thick grove in the middle of a clear sunny day, looking directly straight up into the canopy revealed an impressive crisscross pattern of fronds backlit by intense overhead sunlight.
The composition fills the entire frame with overlapping bright green palm leaves radiating outward against a high-key white sky. Translucent sunlight cuts through the slender leaf segments, casting sharp geometric shadow bands and vivid lime hues across the fronds to produce an airy, energetic tropical perspective.
