Litchfield Church 4-1-2014
Revisiting Litchfield’s iconic historic church under heavy winter cloud cover called for a clean, completely symmetrical composition. Standing directly out in front of the center doorway along the shoveled walkway allowed the classic colonial architecture to take complete command of the entire frame without any distracting street elements or colors.
Captured in high-contrast black and white, this ultra-wide fisheye perspective emphasizes the symmetry of the four large columns, three pedimented entrance doors, and central clock tower spire. Crisp monochrome processing makes the white snow foreground and textured, puffy cloud field pop dramatically against the bare winter trees lining the grounds.
