Sterling Opera House 9-2-2013
Entering through this interior vestibule inside the Sterling Opera House, the richly textured surfaces and bright backlighting immediately caught my eye. The combination of vintage woodwork, framed transom windows, and weathered green walls makes this doorway look like a direct portal into the past.
The wide composition centers on a pair of wooden double doors flanked by distressed seafoam green trim and chipped plaster. Soft daylight streams through the overhead transom panes, illuminating a vintage illustrated poster mounted on the glass pane and casting warm highlights across the floor. Rich olive greens and earthy neutrals give the scene a timeless quality.
