Litchfield Alley 2-10-2014
Walking through downtown Litchfield on a frigid winter morning, I cut through this narrow brick alleyway tucked quietly behind the historic commercial storefronts. The thick plume of white furnace exhaust steam rising straight up into the cold air added an authentic, moody feel to an everyday passage most pedestrians walk right past without noticing.
Warm weathered brick walls dominate both vertical edges of the frame, leading the eye down a snow-dusted walkway toward an arched wooden door at the far end. Soft morning winter light illuminates the drifting white steam against the bare treetops and pale blue sky stretching overhead.
