Brooklyn Bridge 1-13-2013
Walking the East River waterfront on a clear winter afternoon in New York provides unbeatable angles of the iconic suspension spans. Framing from the pier deck allowed me to catch the massive stone tower and steel underbelly of the Manhattan Bridge overhead while keeping the distant Brooklyn Bridge in view. Cold coastal air kept the sky crisp, letting the bright afternoon sun cast a wide glare across the river.
The wide-angle perspective emphasizes the scale of the steel bridge foundation rising out of the water on the left. The sun sits high over the East River, creating shimmering golden reflections on the current and backlighting the distant Brooklyn Bridge and Lower Manhattan skyline. A red handrail guides the eye along the right edge of the frame.
