Hot Air Balloon 10-6-2017
Standing directly on the open flight path as an ornate balloon climbs smoothly overhead reveals incredible textile craftsmanship. The morning air was completely calm across the field, allowing this pilot to maintain a slow, steady ascent directly in front of my camera lens. I angled up to capture the swirling artwork running across the envelope. This was taken at the 2017 Adirondack Balloon Festival.
The image highlights a hot air balloon featuring bold yellow, purple, and olive-green scrollwork spiraling across the upper panels. Warm burner flames flicker faintly inside the throat, illuminating the base above the wicker basket. The graphic spiral curves stand out cleanly against an open, solid blue background.
