Seaside Sanatorium 1-16-2013
Exploring the abandoned grounds of the historic Seaside Sanatorium in Waterford, Connecticut offers an eerie glimpse into New England architectural history. Standing on the sweeping lawn facing the decaying brick building, I mounted an ultra-wide fisheye lens to capture the imposing facade beneath a dramatic, heavily textured sky. The coastal breeze added movement to the fast-drifting clouds above.
The resulting shot showcases the ivy-covered brick exterior, arched stone breezeways, and cylindrical tower curving under the wide perspective. High-contrast processing accentuates the intricate brickwork and climbing vines, while deep, swirling clouds sweep across the Long Island Sound coastline in the distance.
