The Thames, Big Ben & Parliament 8-29-2026

Walking along the Queen’s Walk on the South Bank on August 17, 2026, London offered an exceptionally warm and sunny summer morning. As I walked beside the water, I wanted to capture the quintessential London riverside scene in a single, well-balanced frame. The objective was to line up the calm movement of the River Thames, the historic arches of Westminster Bridge, the towering profile of Big Ben, and the full architectural reach of the Palace of Westminster.

The wide composition emphasizes the intricate Gothic stonework and vertical spires of the Parliament buildings against a bright blue sky filled with soft white clouds. Along the bridge, several iconic red double-decker buses add distinct focal points of color as they cross the river. The natural afternoon sunlight brings out balanced contrast and rich golden tones in the limestone architecture, while the Thames anchors the lower third of the frame to create a clean, classic city landscape.
