Gorilla 6-12-2017
I visited the Bronx Zoo in May 2015 and spent some time observing the primate exhibits. This mother gorilla was sitting calmly in the grass while her baby stayed close by. Zoo photography can be tough because of glass enclosures and crowds, but I managed to find a clear sightline. It was a great opportunity to capture a quiet interaction between the two.
This photograph shows an adult female gorilla resting on a grassy incline, looking off toward the right side of the frame. A small baby gorilla sits right next to her, resting a hand on her arm. The background is filled with lush, out-of-focus green foliage and a large, textured wooden log in the foreground. The natural sunlight highlights the deep tones of their fur.
