Breezy Costa Maya 8-11-2017
Looking back toward the shoreline from the open water provides an authentic view of the Costa Maya coast. A steady tropical wind was blowing off the Caribbean, bending the palm fronds and kicking up small surface ripples along the shallows. Cruising along the coastline allowed me to frame the natural barrier reef edge alongside the quiet, sun-baked beachfront settlement in the distance.
The composition splits between the rich turquoise water in the lower half and the dense green tree line along the shore. A collection of rustic beach cabanas sits tucked behind the bleached sand and coral rock ledge. The clear sea shifts from deep cobalt to bright aqua, giving the scene strong horizontal bands of coastal color under open daylight.
