Wild Daisies 8-14-2017
Field daisies are one of those everyday summer sights that take on a whole new life when you get close with a fast prime. I spotted this dense cluster of wild fleabane daisies blooming along a shaded trail edge at Dennis Hill State Park and got down to eye level. Shooting with a wide aperture let me isolate the sharpest blossoms while turning the background into smooth green blur.
The photo centers on a lively spray of tiny white composite petals radiating around vibrant yellow button centers. Fine ray petals show crisp separation against the dark, soft-focus foliage, giving the flowers a crisp, floating presence. The natural ambient lighting highlights the fine textures in each bloom, creating a bright, uplifting floral composition with excellent depth.
