Seagull 7-29-2012
Walking along the surf on a sunny summer beach day, I watched coastal shorebirds foraging right at the water’s edge. This juvenile gull strutted along the wet sand just as an incoming ocean wave broke behind it, sending up a wall of white sea spray. I kept the shutter speed fast to freeze the water in motion.
The photograph captures the mottled brown and gray gull walking across the sandy shoreline, framed by crashing white foam and splashes. Soft coastal sunlight illuminates the textured feather patterns on its wings, while the frothy surf creates a dynamic, high-energy beach action background.
