Flower 7-31-2017
While hiking along an overgrown trail edge earlier in the summer, these tiny wild maiden pinks caught my attention poking right through the tall grass. Small trailside blooms like this are easy to overlook, so I knelt down close to isolate their vivid petals against the background greenery.
The photograph highlights two magenta Dianthus blossoms with distinct five-petal star shapes and serrated outer tips. Delicate purple anthers and white-speckled centers add fine textural detail to the foreground bloom, while a second flower drifts softly into creamy green bokeh. The sharp color contrast delivers clean botanical interest across widescreen desktop monitors.
