Litchfield Daffodils 6-25-2013
Wandering off the main path at Laurel Ridge brought me to this rustic stone staircase climbing naturally up through the ridge. The way the mature tree trunks frame the natural walkway felt like a hidden entrance into the heart of the estate grounds, especially with the bright afternoon sun breaking directly between the heavy branches above.
The shot centers on the rugged stone steps and flanking dry-stack stone walls, surrounded by fresh blooming daffodils and scattered leaf mulch. Strong backlighting pours through the center tree gap, casting long shadows downward while emphasizing the deep textures of the weathered bark, moss, and layered granite slabs.
