Bronx Zoo Tiger 12-21-2015
Visiting the tiger habitat at the Bronx Zoo requires patience and a good zoom lens to work through safety glass and heavy vegetation. After watching this massive cat pace along the rocky slope, it finally paused and locked its gaze across the enclosure. Shooting with an open aperture separated the tiger sharply from the distracting greenery behind it.
The photograph captures a clean side profile of the tiger, emphasizing the thick winter coat and crisp white facial whiskers. Deep black stripes contrast sharply against rich orange fur along the jawline and brow. The bright green foliage melts into a soft, textured background, focusing all attention on the cat’s intense expression.
