Hot Air Balloons 9-9-2016
Standing near the launch field when several balloons lift off at the exact same moment is an incredible rush. The sky fills up quickly in every direction, forcing you to look up and continually adjust your framing. I waited until several envelopes overlapped at different heights and angles before hitting the shutter. This shot was taken at the 2016 Plainville Balloon Festival.
The frame is packed with overlapping hot air balloons showcasing bold geometric designs. Bright yellow, chevron, rainbow-checkered, and blue-striped envelopes create a dense array of colors against a soft blue morning sky. Sharp directional light defines the balloon seams and adds depth across the entire composition, making an energetic desktop background.
