Milkweed 11-23-2012
Walking through overgrown meadow fields in late November, I stumbled across several dried milkweed pods splitting open in the crisp autumn breeze. Getting in close with the macro lens revealed an incredible geometric pattern of brown seeds packed tightly inside the dry pod shell, just waiting to catch the late autumn wind.
The macro composition focuses on the overlapping, scale-like brown seeds and gleaming white silky parachutes emerging from the open dried pod capsule. Crisp natural lighting brings out the intricate textures of the seed coats and silky threads, set cleanly against a soft, out-of-focus background of cold blue sky.
