Frog 7-1-2015
Visiting the World of Reptiles exhibit at the Bronx Zoo always provides unique opportunities to photograph exotic amphibians in carefully replicated natural habitats. I positioned the camera right against the exhibit glass to capture this hefty green bullfrog as it rested comfortably among broad, waxy tropical leaves inside the terrarium enclosure.
The image features the deep olive-green frog settled into a dense bed of overlapping foliage. Soft, moody overhead lighting emphasizes the frog’s alert dark eye and textured brow, while deep forest greens and shadowed negative space in the background give the scene a calm, cinematic terrarium atmosphere on widescreen displays.
