Topsmead State Forest 2-23-2015
Tucked into the courtyard of the main house at Topsmead, this covered stone patio offers a cool retreat on bright sunny afternoons. I have walked past this breezeway dozens of times, but the way the outdoor furniture and climbing wall planters were arranged immediately caught my eye. The balanced woodwork and sheltered outdoor seating give the space a classic, timeless feel that invites you to relax.
Heavy timber posts and exposed ceiling beams frame two painted wooden chairs, a central bench, and a unique wall planter arbor filled with potted plants. Bright purple flowers in rustic stone planters flank the foreground, adding vibrant color against the neutral flagstone flooring and textured stucco walls of the open-air porch.
