Spaceship Earth 11-23-2014
Walking through the main entrance plaza at Epcot, Spaceship Earth always stops you in your tracks. It has been one of my favorite park rides and engineering marvels since childhood. While walking past the granite legacy monoliths on a bright afternoon, the cloud formation broke open perfectly to highlight the full scale of the eighteen-story geodesic sphere.
The wide-angle photograph frames the complete globe resting on its massive concrete pylons, flanked by manicured green trees and stone pylons in the foreground. Strong directional Florida sunlight defines the thousands of interlocking triangular panels across the silver surface. A bright blue sky with soft white cirrus clouds provides an open, uplifting park atmosphere.
