Rhinoceros 11-18-2014

While riding along the safari trail at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, our open vehicle rounded a bend just as this massive white rhinoceros was crossing near the roadside brush. It was one of those quick photo opportunities where you need a steady hand and fast shutter speed to capture the moment cleanly.

This frame highlights the immense scale and textured, slate-gray hide of the rhino as it steps deliberately past dense green bushes. Crisp natural daylight reveals the weathered ridges on its prominent horn, the heavy folds of thick skin along its shoulder, and the quiet power behind its steady, lumbering stride.
