Grand Central Lights 10-8-2014
While walking through Grand Central Station in New York City, I paused near one of the grand entrances to look up at the ceiling architecture. Most visitors rush past these overhead fixtures without taking a second glance, but the craftsmanship is remarkable. I stood directly beneath one of the massive chandeliers to frame a straight, symmetrical perspective looking up into the carved molding.
This architectural photo looks directly upward at a circular, multi-tiered brass chandelier. Rings of exposed incandescent bulbs glow with warm, golden light across the ornate framework. Surrounding the light fixture is an intricately carved coffered plaster ceiling with decorative moldings, framing the glowing circular tiers in a balanced, geometric composition with rich yellow tones.
