High-angle view of the Manhattan skyline and One World Trade Center from the Empire State Building

View From The Empire 10-13-2014

Standing on the outdoor observation deck of the Empire State Building on a bright October morning gave an unbelievable look across Manhattan. With the autumn sun sitting high in the south, I mounted an ultra-wide lens and stopped down the aperture to produce a sharp starburst directly over the skyline.

The panoramic high-angle shot looks south down the length of Manhattan toward the Financial District and One World Trade Center flanked by the Hudson and East rivers. Brilliant midday sunlight radiates across the expansive city grid below, illuminating countless historic rooftops, avenues, and modern glass towers stretching to the horizon.
