Goose On The Water 3-16-2014

I photographed this Canadian goose floating on a calm pond in Litchfield, Connecticut during the spring of 2013. It was a quiet morning, and the water was still enough to get a sharp reflection. Geese are common around here, but getting a clean, isolated shot without background clutter takes a bit of patience. I waited until it swam into an open patch of water.

The image displays a single Canada goose floating on blue water, viewed directly from behind. The bird’s dark brown body, white tail feathers, and black neck are centered in the frame. Soft ripples in the water create horizontal lines across the image, reflecting a mix of blue sky and subtle golden tones from the surrounding environment.
