Elephant 11-13-2017

While riding through the reserve during a safari excursion, this young African elephant stepped directly out into the open path ahead of our vehicle. Watching the calf move at a relaxed, steady pace gave me plenty of time to stabilize the telephoto lens and frame the animal in natural stride.

The composition captures the elephant in full stride across the sandy ground, framed by a massive weathered boulder on the left and dense jungle foliage in the background. Soft midday lighting highlights the textured gray skin, curved white tusks, and trunk, while the pale dirt track grounds the wide wildlife portrait cleanly.
