Yellow Daisy and Bumble Bee 12-27-2013
I had walked out into the garden with a macro lens on a sunny afternoon and spotted this bumblebee thoroughly engrossed in working across the flower head. Getting steady at close range took a moment of patience so I wouldn’t spook the pollinator.
The tight composition zeroes in on the dark purple-brown center cone dusted with fine yellow pollen grains. Broad golden-yellow petals fan out across the frame, framing the bee’s fuzzy black and yellow thorax and delicate wings in sharp detail. A dark, out-of-focus background keeps your eye pinned right on the insect.
