Fall Foliage 11-6-2013
Walking along the yard edge in early November revealed the intense crimson shades of a burning bush shrub holding onto its late autumn leaves. Even though winged euonymus is considered an invasive species here in New England, its vibrant seasonal color remains unmistakable against the turning woods as winter approaches each year.
Deep magenta and scarlet leaves hang from a thin branch in sharp focus across the foreground. In the background, out-of-focus golden yellow and amber foliage creates a warm, painterly autumn backdrop, illuminated by soft natural daylight filtering through the canopy on a crisp fall afternoon in Connecticut woods.
