Cloudy Lower Manhattan 10-17-2016
Cruising out across New York Harbor on a brisk autumn day offered an atmospheric look at Lower Manhattan under heavy overcast skies. A low-hanging cloud deck was rolling across the financial district, completely swallowing the upper observation floors and spire of One World Trade Center as it towered over the city.
Rendered in classic black and white, the composition captures the dense urban skyline stretching across the waterfront from the World Financial Center to Battery Park. The rippling Hudson River anchors the foreground, while brooding, textured storm clouds slice cleanly across the tallest skyscraper, lending a dramatic, moody presence to the urban architectural scene.
