Hot Air Balloon 9-29-2013
Tracking a single hot air balloon as it catches a steady morning thermal makes for great detail shots. The clean morning air and bright sidelight let you pick up fine textures in the nylon fabric. I used a telephoto zoom to isolate the envelope against the empty sky as it drifted overhead.
The photograph showcases a spherical balloon decorated in an intricate checkerboard pattern of bright yellow, sky blue, navy, and deep purple. Crisp sunlight highlights the curvature of each ribbed vertical baffle. The wicker basket hangs suspended below with guide lines visible, providing a vibrant, geometric display for any computer display.
