Dandelion-7-28-2013
Crouching low in the yard after a brief morning shower revealed this dandelion seed head completely intact and untouched by the wind. The intricate geometry of the mature puffball stood out immediately against the grass, offering an ideal opportunity for extreme close-up macro photography in calm, quiet morning conditions.
The camera captures the radial symmetry of wispy white pappus filaments spreading outwards from the dark textured seed core. Delicate water droplets cling to the featherweight fibers, while a smooth, desaturated green lawn recedes into pure creamy background blur, highlighting the fragile complexity of a common backyard plant from top to bottom.
