Wildflower 7-31-2013
Mid-summer hedgerows are packed with wild multiflora roses, but catching a fresh bloom before the summer heat wilts the petals is all about timing. I worked in tight on this cluster along an open woodland edge under diffused midday light. Getting within inches brought out fine botanical features you normally breeze past on a casual walk.
The macro composition highlights the delicate white petals cupping a dense ring of golden-orange stamens. Tiny pollen grains and fine filament structures show sharp definition at the center, drawing the eye directly into the heart of the blossom. Soft out-of-focus petals and lush foliage provide a quiet, natural border that accentuates the blossom’s organic lines.
