Fisheye view of the steel globe sculpture and skyscrapers at Columbus Circle

Trump Hotel Globe 3-17-2013

Visiting Columbus Circle on a crisp St. Patrick’s Day weekend in New York City always brings great crowds and photo opportunities. I knelt down directly beside the massive steel globe sculpture on the plaza with an ultra-wide fisheye lens to pull the entire urban setting into a single sweeping perspective.

The metallic globe occupies the lower center of the frame, framed by towering glass skyscrapers that curve upward toward a clear blue sky. Bright sunshine catches the polished edges of the buildings, casting warm reflections across the glass windows while the extreme wide-angle distortion emphasizes the dizzying scale of Manhattan.
