Strawberry Fields 3-14-2013
During a morning walk through Central Park, I visited the Strawberry Fields memorial to photograph the iconic Imagine mosaic tribute to John Lennon. Visitors had just arrived and placed fresh flowers and fruit across the stone tile, leaving behind a spontaneous, colorful arrangement in the soft morning sunlight. Photographing the spot before the afternoon crowds arrived gave me clean, unobstructed angles over the stonework.
The composition looks directly down at the circular black-and-white mosaic, centered on the word Imagine. Wrapped cut flowers, ripe oranges, and bright red strawberries cast gentle shadows across the intricate stonework, introducing vibrant color accents into the historic commemorative design.
