Barrington Fair Grounds 3-8-2013
Tucked along the underbelly of the grandstand, these old betting and ticket windows still wear their original purpose right on the wooden wall. Walking up to the partitioned booths gave a clear sense of the fast-paced action and lively wagering that used to unfold here on live race days across Massachusetts.
I went with a black and white presentation to emphasize the bold, hand-painted lettering on the Cash and Sell sign and the rough grain of the weathered wooden siding. The symmetry of the wire-mesh teller windows below grounds the shot, offering a stark, historical study in pure tonal contrast and rustic texture that works great across any monitor screen.
