Adirondack Balloon Festival 9-19-2026

Heading out to the Adirondack Balloon Festival early in the morning usually means cold air, wet grass, and waiting around while launch crews check the wind conditions. Back in September 2025, that crisp morning chill held until the sun started breaking through. Once the inflation fans shut off and the propane burners kicked on, the balloons went upright and began lifting straight off the field into clear weather. It was a calm, steady start to the morning.

This shot focuses on a single balloon drifting directly overhead against an empty, deep blue sky. The checkered rainbow pattern wraps across the ribbed panels, showing off bright shades of yellow, green, red, pink, and purple. The early morning side-lighting catches the texture of the fabric, casting slight shadows along the seams, while a visible blast from the burner lights up the throat right above the wicker basket. The frame is simple and centered, letting the clean background give the balloon plenty of breathing room.
